Latency is more important than sheer speed with online games. Because of the realities of physics, geography, and the importance in a four-player fighting game in particular for low latency, I'd bear in mind that sometimes it's just not going to be perfect. Perhaps try to find a circle of friends in the same area to see if that helps.
