So I've been playing Hyrule Warriors for a few days, and this is now the second time I have to start over. Forgive me if I sound frustrated.
I was cruising along through the game for probably 10+ hours and thought "hey, maybe I should download the DLC". I put it my download code for both the Club Nintendo DLC and the EBGames pre-order DLC, downloaded both to the system, and installed them. Upon starting the game once more, it hit the loading screen and froze, crashing the console. Nothing was responsive and I had to hard restart the system. I went to data management and deleted the DLC file and the update file, but left the save file alone. The game reinstalled the update and loaded up just fine. However, for some reason it overwrote my save file when I started it up. I was pretty upset about this, but I thought hey, at least the game works now. So I started over and played for another few hours, and I decided to try the DLC download once more. I mean after all, it was half the reason I decided to pre-order in the first place. This time though, I decided I'd copy the save file (JUST the save file) over to the system storage just in case I had the same issue. It's an annoying process to update the game all over again, but I backed up my save, so I wasn't too worried. Anyway, the same problem happened again just now. I installed the DLC and the game freezes on the loading screen. I went into date management, reinstalled the update just like the first time, and booted the game up. The "saving" icon came up and I said "HA! I gotcha this time!". Nope. I thought I was being safe, but now it won't let me copy my save file back over to the USB drive with the rest of the game's files. I mean I'm staring at my save data all nicely tucked away, and it just won't let me restore it?
I really appreciate any help you guys can give me! This anger is not directed at you, I promise.
Thanks!
Edit: just a little follow up! If I get my save file restored (I'm not overly hopefuly, but it'd be awesome), is there some other way I can get the DLC? It seems like it's corrupting the file somehow, and I'm afraid to try it again.
Nintendo does not typically support back-up save files (with the exception of the GameCube and some other things), so even if you make one, you can't use it unless you hack the game, which isn't recommended. I'm sure there's a good reason for this, but right now I am not sure what that would be.
As for your game, it might be defective.
