As far as updates, I have the system set for automatic ones. But I will try and check just to be sure.
I'm going to try the reset now and see what happens over the next day or so.
Thanks for your suggestions.
I spoke with Nintendo concerning a repair, and since it is a launch system it would be about $99. When I bought the system, I bought the 2-year replacement plan through Gamestop. If you are not familiar, basically I give them the system, gamepad, etc. and they just give me a new one.
The problem is that I can't perform a system to system transfer if that happens. Brian at Nintendo told me that they could try to create a request to have my Nintendo ID transferred but there is no guarantee they can. Also, if I had to hook up my external HD cold to a new system it would require a full format to work with the new system. All my game saves, downloads, etc. would be erased.
I hope the reset helps. If not, I don't want to pay if I have the cost of a new system for free. I could just re-download the games I have if I wanted to, but if I could not set my ID up correctly on the new system then I have no access to my coins, etc. and I don't want to have a new ID.
I'll let you know what transpires.
I appreciate the time you took to answer.
