I also went through all this stuff and am not a techie at all. What I tried this morning was : I went into my internet connection and chose to manage my network. In this I selected adapter properties and then picked sharing. I clicked the box to allow sharing and chose the Local Area Connection. I tried the Wii U again, after several hundred attempts and it worked!! I didn't have to use the address trick this way, it found my connection and I put in the password. I have been helped on this forum and hope to help others.
