Okay, so my dad finally got his own Fit Meter so he can start in with some of the challenges along with my mom and me.
The problem is, when he goes for walks with us, his meter tends to read twice as many steps as either of our own! We've tested it--him wearing mine, me wearing his, actually counting out how many steps we're taking, and no matter the circumstances, his reads twice as high.
Note, we haven't swapped which profile the meters are assigned to: for testing purposes, I temporarily wore the one assigned to his profile and he wore the one assigned to mine, and the one on his profile read twice as high as mine.
His stride is longer than mine, so I could understand it reading that he's walking further (e.g. more miles)... but that shouldn't affect how many steps the meter thinks we took in the first place.
We have the invoice for his Fit Meter still, and we've discussed taking it back to the store and exchanging for a new one--we still have a few weeks before the return period runs out--but before we do that, we want to be sure of what the problem is so we know whether a new one is going to do it as well.
